Who I am
Sebastian Moffett is a Brussels-based journalist and writer with more than two decades experience working for major, international media.
I once spent a year as an intern on a regional newspaper in Japan, aiming to improve my Japanese. Sent out to interview people in Kanazawa, I quickly decided to make journalism my career: you get paid to talk to talk to people doing interesting things; and you learn about how the world works.
Since then I have worked as a journalist and writer, focusing at various times on business and economics; international politics; sport; and science and the environment. I started in news at Reuters and later specialised in features and longer articles, at the Wall Street Journal, in a book on Japan and for magazines such as Time and Business Week.
After working in Japan for two decades, I moved to Paris in 2008, and currently work freelance in Brussels.
